One of Sandra’s aspiration as an author was to be able to write by the sea. Her dream place had also to be isolated, serene and the sea should provide ever-changing shades of blue from turquoise to deep indigo. On one memorable day, she landed in Cancun, and her attraction to the land of the Mayas was immediate and overwhelming! Little did she know then that her dream place was right there on an island where Mayas lived from time immemorial: Holbox Island… little did she know till she disembarked on this enchanting island. Nothing she ever saw was more delightful than the game nature effortlessly played with colors, the charm of the people who lived there - the barefoot fisherman with golden sparking smiles - the women weaving rainbow “hamacas” while wearing high heels stoutly implanted into the sand.

Mesmerized she thought: “ I must do something here!” Slowly a project started to germinate and to take root. Today, on the beach, facing the sea with an ever-changing shades of blue, this project has become a reality, she calls it: “A Hotel with a Human Sensitivity

BEDROOMS

Inspired by the genius of man and the gifts of the earth, the serene spectacle to the sea, combined with smooth sheets invite relaxation. Every window is the reflection of the marine world that cradles you, untamed, endless, a reflection that changes colour at every quivering of a capricious sun.

The furniture and all items that surround you come from organic-hand made artisans. This effort reflects the belief of a hotel that looks for the harmony of mind, body and spirit. The cosiness comes from the criss-crossing of trunks of trees holding the “palapa”, dreamy mosquito nets, soft hand-weaved materials, paintings and pictures that incite tranquillity and restores one’s quest for an inner peaceful space.

There are three different kinds of occupancy in our hotel. The Superior, The Junior Suite and The Master Suite. Each one of them is meant to be an unexpected discovery. Here there are no excesses, nor over decorated rooms, no desire to impress, but a well-designed environment for graceful dreams.

RESTAURANT

Covering the whole ground floor stands Casasandra, our gourmet Restaurant. Every morning and afternoons, the intense blue of the sea will light up your stay. At night, the capricious dancing flames of the torches will mirror in the eyes matching the amazing star spangled sky of Holbox.  Every moment of the day brings a new set of emotions like a never ending stage show from the rising sun than announces new happiness to the sunset that brings romance. An incredible gastronomic journey in a luxurious, rustic and cosy atmosphere is where fish reigns supreme, here freshness is matchless.

We call Felix, our chef “the happy Cuban”. We should actually call our customers “the happy customers” as our Felix endlessly let his mind explore the abundant universe of flavours to gratify each customer with a personalised –and startling- menu.

SPA

There is another corner of our Casasandra that celebrates the hedonistic awareness: the SIBUMI SPA. Here, in a secluded and soothing space, mind and body harmonizes within itself.

Amenities
In your room, you will find different natural products, made exclusively for Casasandra, as well as this directory with all the activities and detailed function of the hotel.

Snack Bar
Our bar service is available from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. This service becomes widespread on the beach area where you can enjoy all kind of natural juices, liquors, exotic cocktails with fresh ingredients while you tang yourself or look to the marvellous sunsets that only Holbox can offers.

Lunch Restaurant and Gourmet Restaurant
From 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM we offer a fresh suggestion with a Caribbean touch in which you are able to find since salads with local mayan ingredients, going through “ceviches”  (lemon marinate fish or sea food) until our cuban typical delights, being able to taste them on the beach area as well.

Gourmet Restaurant
From 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. You can find a numerous exquisite plates of the local gastronomy merged with international cuisine, but always spattered with a Cuban taste. The dishes are elaborated with the best and freshest ingredients of the area, presented according to the simple, sophisticated and romantic atmosphere surrounding our restaurant, with candles and incense after sunset.
A special menu is available for any request, such as vegetarian, diet or some allergy. Our Chef “The happy Cuban” (Félix) will be pleased to satisfy your needs, just let us know.

Safe
For your comfort and protection to your valuables, the reception has a safe. Any object to keep must be delivered at the reception at any time.
Important: The hotel is not responsible for any loss.

Check out
In order to minimize delays, we suggest ask for your bill during the afternoon before to your departure or if you prefer you are able to do it in the morning of your departure day. Any other consume can be paid directly paid on the service area.
The check out is at 12:30 PM.
If you need some help or luggage safekeeping until your check out, contact our front desk and we will be pleasured to take care of it.

Flight Confirmation
At the reception we can confirm your flight the day before to your departure, please contact us for any special request.

Post service
There is not post office on Holbox island yet.

Electricity
In the rooms all the contacts are 110V, equivalent to the US. For European systems, converter is necessary. Please contact the front desk if you need one.

Doctor
In case you need medical assistance, please contact the front desk to be transferred to the medical centre of the island.

Fax
To send and receive faxes has an additional charge. If you receive a fax, it will be delivered immediately to your room. If you need to send a fax, bring it to the front desk and we will deliver the original and the confirmation to your room.

Departure taxes
All taxes of Cancun Airport are included on your rate; you do not need to pay any extra.

Laundry
For laundry service, please use the bags in the closet. Fill up the form, writing down the clothes number. Leave the form and the bag in sight of the housekeeping service. Your laundry will be taken back in maximum 12 hours. Do not send delicate clothes.
If you need iron service, write it down on the form and is with additional cost.

Medicines
At the reception or restaurant  there is always available a medicine kit of first aid. If you need under prescription medicine, please contact the reception to find them at the pharmacy.

Cash and Money exchange
Peso, is the official Mexican coin, US dollars are accepted almost at any restaurant, shops, taxis and tips. If you need to exchange money or traveller checks, please ask at the reception. Remember, in Mexico all the transactions with credit card must be paid in Mexican pesos by law.

Payments
All the consumes  in the hotel, restaurant as well as tour or any other service required through the hotel, can be paid in cash with pesos, US dollars or euros as well as credit cards (Visa or MasterCard). In this last option there is a 5% extra fee on the total amount.
Important: On Holbox there are no banks neither as ATM and only few places accept credit cards. Bringing enough money is suggestible depending on your staying.

Lost objects
Housekeeper looks after all the lost objects; please ask at the reception in case you have lost something.

Beach
The north beach is one of our biggest treasures where you can enjoy the most beautiful and colourful sunsets. We provide towels, palapas, and laying chairs. No reservation request for any of those services, just take any of the available ones; the beach towels are in the closet of your room, in case of losing there is an extra charge.

Tips
Tips are included on the meals price and are on the 10% of the total amount of your bill.

Tips left in the rooms go completely to the housekeeper service.
Tips left at the restaurant table such as the ones of the total amount are divided within the waiter and the cook on duty.
Tips given in hand are for each person.
Tips delivered at the reception are divided with all the personal of the hotel if there is not any other specification.

Transportation
Transportation service is available upon request. This service includes pick up at Cancun int airport (or any other place in Cancun), car transfer to Chiquila, bota transfer to Holbox and taxi to CasaSandra. This Service is not included in the room rate.

At the reception, ask for information and book in advance about:
All kind of tours, such as whale shark, around the island, the cork trees, fishing, etc.

Etc.

Baby sitter
We look after your kid(s); ask at the reception about this service.

Our massage therapist, is experienced and qualified to provide an excellent service to our guests. Book at the reception 24 hours in advance.
